TempeHiker visited Gilbert, Arizona, on the morning of 20 July 2005. The drive from Guadalupe Road at Loop 101 in Tempe to downtown Gilbert was nine miles.

Gilbert is one of the fastest growing towns in the Valley of the Sun and it claims to be a "community of excellence." Current population approximates 150,000.

Note: Gilbert is a town; not a city.
